Almost ready. My plane to Chicago leaves tomorrow morning at 6am, which means up and at 'em by 3am. Eewww. I wanted to be in bed by 8pm, which at this moment is 11 minutes from now. Won't make it. Now shooting for 8:30pm.
Before I go anywhere for one or more nights away from my family I always get just a touch nervous, and the what-ifs start coursing through my brain. I worry even when there's nothing to worry about - so when I'm gonna be on board a plane flying halfway across the country, well....... I love them so much that the thought of not returning for whatever reason is just too much to bear. OK - let's not even go there, sister! Anyhoo, in that light, I thought I'd share one of my designs that incorporates a quote that sums up what I feel about my sweet hubby and chillins. They really are everything to me, even if I am a big grouch sometimes and don't show it like I should. Soooooooo - I love you Allreds! Be safe and be good while I'm away! See you soon.

The word is: DILIGENCE
Diligence: constant and earnest effort to accomplish what is undertaken; persistent exertion of body or mind.
I plan to do periodic blog posts featuring a specific word. The word today is DILIGENCE. I love this word! It embodies so much of what I want to be and do: work hard, stay focused, be determined in the overcoming of my faults and the pursuit of my accomplishments, and persevere. We are intrepid! We carry on! Good stuff!
My son David is a great example to me of diligence. He is well on his way to a stellar career as a musician, and his discipline and dedication in his work inspires me daily. Keep it up, David! I love you!
"Diligence is the mother of good fortune, and idleness, its opposite, never brought a man to the goal of any of his best wishes." —Miguel de Cervantes

Alpha: The Beginning...
Welcome to the first posting of my new blog! Glad you're here. I'm Kalani Allred, I live in Folsom, California, and I have a great life: A loving and dedicated husband, two fabulous, healthy, and talented children (well, technically they're adults but they'll always be my babies!), a nice place to live, lots of great friends, and a relatively healthy existence. Through reading this blog you will learn about me, my thoughts, and my pursuits. I hope you find your time here well spent.
This coming Sunday, July 25th, I will board a plane headed for Chicago, where I will attend the CHA (that's the Craft and Hobby Association) Summer 2010 convention. I am so very excited because at this show, the first of my brand-new line of clear and rubber stamps will be unveiled. Most of my images thus far are text-based quotes, phrases and sentiments that I have artfully arranged, and I've crowned them with the title WORDS & SUCH. I have always been a lover of the written word. I am constantly reading (sometimes two or three books at a time), and most of my favorite books have several of their pages dog-eared, and many also have memorable passages underlined and notes scribbled in the margins. Holding a book in my hands, curled up in the corner of my couch with a nice bright lamp and a cold drink nearby - that is heaven. My books are my friends! And let me also say that I also have some very dear human-type friends as well, and they mean the world to me as does my family.
So, back to my stamps: They are being manufactured and marketed by IMPRESSION OBSESSION and the first stamps (holiday-themed for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas) will be available in stores and online very soon. Mitra, the owner and president of Impression Obsession, has been wonderful to work with and I am so very jazzed and dreaming of big things to come!
More tomorrow. Good night for now!
